Not Much to Say

I realized in reading today that I don’t have much to say. I just finished chapter seven and Jonathan has some words we all need to hear, so I’m going to let him do the talking for me.

A lot of times when I hear people talk about God, I think to myself that I signed up for a revolution and what I’m hearing sounds more like a home-shopping network.”

“The gospel has been reduced to a transaction: give an hour a week, ten percent of your income, and you’re cool. If that’s all it is, then we can call it something else, but let’s not call it church”

“The church is the only community in the world where the question, ‘What’s in it for me?’ just doesn’t make sense. The power of God is not for sale.”

“When you decided to follow Jesus, you joined a movement of God’s redemptive history. God is in the business of reconciling all things in a broken world back to himself. He’s piecing back the world one molecule at a time. And you get to be a part of it.”

Wow. Now that’s something to think about as we prepare for the upcoming Sabbath.
