When I started Life Down This Road, I already had a successful blog, My Daily Rock, which I have been writing on for nearly a year. On that blog, I review Christian books for two week time periods in an effort to find books that draw me into a deeper relationship with God.
I tell you this because I want you to know that I faced one more decision while traveling this road. That was – do I combine the two in an effort to not hide this part of my life from my Christian followers or do I separate them and give them both room to breathe and grow on their own?
At first, I was going to just keep them separate -two blogs, two Instagram accounts and the rest. But then, I did it and it just didn’t ever feel right. I talked to my oldest daughter, who identifies as gender fluid, pansexual, and she thinks it’s best if they are separate. So, I’m separating them. Well, I’ve separated them. This morning, as a matter of fact.
I don’t want anyone to think for even one second that I am ashamed of this journey I am on with my daughters. Not even close! I also believe that many Christians need to be exposed to more LGBTQ people and their lifestyle and that many in the LGBTQ community feel that there is a complete break away from Christianity when they come out. I’m not sure why that is, but I don’t believe it needs to be that way. I thought a little exposure on both sides might be good. That was my thought, but I do see my daughter’s point.
So, two blogs it is. I hope you will join me down this path, visiting whichever blog you feel most comfortable in.
